Prospective Authors

1. First Step
Please read our Submission Guidelines to see if your manuscript agrees with our goals and objectives.

2. Second Step
Fill out the online form, and email this along with an electronic copy of your manuscript (.doc, PDF, or RTF file) plus a $150.00 processing fee paid through PayPal. Those who do not read the online guide will be automatically rejected.

3. Third Step
We will check your manuscript over and decide if it fits our publishing goals. If not, we will inform you. Reading the Submission Guidelines will help you not to waste your money on a processing fee for a book we would not consider. Otherwise we will contact you with the specific publishing options that we suggest and allow you to chose which of these you wish to follow. Eg. We may wish to assign an editor and suggest changes to the title, contents etc. Once we all agree on the terms, we will send you a contract to sign.

4. Fourth Step
We will make the necessary changes to your manuscript. We will then typeset some sample pages and suggest cover designs. We invite you to work with us during this process so that the end result is a book that we are all proud of.

5. Fifth Step
The books are printed, bound, and shipped. You will receive the number of author copies that were agreed to in the contract.

6. Sixth Step
Using PayPal we will deposit royalties into your account as the books sell. We will be responsible to sell the copies we retain, and the author has the responsibility to sell the copies he or she retains (according to the contract that was worked out).

Consider other options if no one else will...
If you are convinced that you have a successful book, but no publisher will take it, then consider publishing your own book through a print on demand (POD) publishing house. We provide some links to these on our links page. These publishers, for a small fee of $100 to $800 will publish your book and make it available over the web. If you have a great book, you can start earning royalties immediately and perhaps attract the attention of a larger publishing house. Several CanBooks titles were originally published this way.

We wish you the best of luck with your writing and publishing endeavors. It is not easy to get a book published. Some of our authors published several books on their own, before catching our attention.
