Submission Guidelines
Note: Canadian authors will be given preference
1. Moral Content
CanBooks upholds a strict moral content code. All of our books are suitable for readers of all ages. Inappropriate language is strictly avoided, and immoral situations are not described in detail. CanBooks does not wish to avoid common issues, but wishes to deal with them in a tasteful way that does not offend our readers.
2. Non-Fiction
We are currently accepting non-fiction: history, current affairs, culture, travel guides, religious (evangelical) and health. We are also interested in textbooks and reference books. All manuscripts should be in English and of the highest quality.
3. Fiction
On rare cases we will accept fiction. We are not currently accepting short stories, poetry or illustrated coffee table books. All manuscripts should be in English.
4. Manuscript Preparation
We cannot take responsibility for original work. Please email us a copy in electronic format only. We regret that we are not able to provide critiques or comments on any work submitted. Unfortunately, queries and/or submissions sent by letter, fax or telephone will not receive a reply. Please send to: editor @ canbooks.com (without the spaces around the @ sign)
5. First submit the processing fee then email the manuscript
Use the button below to submit the processing fee. Then email an electronic copy of your manuscript (.doc, PDF, or RTF file) The $150.00 processing fee must be paid through PayPal.
You may then email your manuscript to: editor @ canbooks.com (without the spaces around the @ sign) Please submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word format or Adobe PDF format.
6. Wait for us to reply
We will acknowledge the receipt of your manuscript, but it may take several months for us to go through it and respond to you. Please be patient. If your manuscript does not fit our guidelines, we will inform you soon after we receive it.
Illustrators:
To be considered for upcoming projects, please do one of the following: email us a URL where your artwork is on display or email us with your details and no more than 10 non-returnable samples. Each sample should be included or attached to an individual email. Please send to: graphicarts @ canbooks.com (please remove the spaces around the @ sign) We regret that we do not take responsibility for or return any samples, nor are we able to submit critiques or comments to those who submit. We will contact you in the event that we feel your work best suits an upcoming project.
